Spiritual warfare is real—but God has given us powerful tools to stand firm. These four prayers for protection will help you resist the enemy and walk confidently in God’s strength.
As Christians, we're constantly engaged in a spiritual struggle.
In physical warfare, people fight battles on different fronts for a variety of reasons and to different levels of intensity — the same is true for spiritual warfare. Even though we cannot see the attacker physically, our spiritual battles are as real as if the attackers were standing in front of us.
In the world around us, there are both angelic and demonic forces at work. As Christians, we fight a spiritual battle against evil every day. Jesus instructs us to pray for God's will to come true on earth as it is in heaven.
As God is directing our lives according to His will, even the gates of hell can't stop us from completing the work God has set out for us to accomplish.
In this article, we’ll give you four prayers to protect yourself and your family from spiritual warfare.
Spiritual warfare refers to the unseen battle between good and evil that every Christian faces. While we may not see the enemy, the Bible clearly states that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood” but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).
The devil’s goal is to disrupt your walk with God, cause fear, and distract you from your divine purpose. But take heart—through Jesus Christ, we already have the victory.
“The righteous shall live by faith.” —Romans 1:17 (KJV)
Recognizing the spiritual battle is the first step toward protection. Through prayer, Scripture, and submission to God, we receive strength and clarity to resist every scheme of the enemy.
However, those with God have already won the battle since the Lord Jesus Christ overcame death. If we wish to be saved from the second death of the spirit, we must be born again with faith in Jesus Christ.
The word of God instructs us to be vigilant and spiritually fit and to guard our hearts and minds. Recognizing that spiritual warfare exists and honestly reflecting on how it affects you are the first steps to protecting yourself against it.
"For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith” (Romans 1:17).
A faceless enemy isn’t something you can handle in the physical world. And even though you can’t see it, it can be especially detrimental to your relationship with Jesus, as the enemy is trying to divert you from having a devotional relationship with him.
To resolve this conflict, you must submit to God and abstain from Satan's influence. By giving yourself to God's protection, you will have the strength to resist the devil's schemes.
When you feel spiritually attacked, prayer is your most effective weapon. Use these four powerful prayers to shield yourself and your loved ones from harm:
“Lord, I know the enemy attacks because I’m making a difference for Your Kingdom. Remind me that the battle belongs to You. Help me trust You more and lean not on my own strength. Fill me with Your Spirit and open my eyes to the enemy’s traps. Thank You for going with me into every battle. Amen.”
“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You with a heavy heart. Surround me with Your peace and protection. Hide me under the shadow of Your wings. Remove fear from my heart and replace it with divine peace. I place my trust in You alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
“Almighty God, give me strength when I feel weak. Guide me to Your will and guard my mind against the enemy’s lies. Help me resist temptation and remain steadfast in faith. Purify my heart and help me love You more each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
“O Lord, I clothe myself in the full armor of God. Let me wear the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, shield of faith, sword of the Spirit, and gospel of peace. Protect me and my family. Silence every voice but Yours. Lead me by Your Word and give me the mind of Christ. Amen.”
Spiritual warfare isn’t something to fear—it’s a call to stand firm in Christ. God’s Word, prayer, and spiritual vigilance are our defenses. Daily time in Scripture and ongoing conversation with God strengthen us to overcome every attack.
As you grow in spiritual maturity, consider joining with other believers to intercede for your family, church, and nation. One opportunity to do this is during the National Day of Prayer 2025, a powerful moment of unity and spiritual protection across America.
Spiritual attacks are real—but so is God’s protection. Use these prayers daily, stand in faith, and trust that God is fighting for you. He is your refuge, strength, and shield in every battle.
