Our parents deserve the happiest of birthdays.  

They gave us life. They raised us as children of God. Without their guidance, we wouldn’t be who we are today. They deserve our unconditional love, appreciation, and respect.

Here are three verses you can share with your parents on their birthdays:

"For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life" (Proverbs 9:11). 

“The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old” (Proverbs 20:29). 

“He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:8-9). 

Having a sibling is not all about hair pulling and sibling rivalry. We grow and learn with them.  

As we become older, our appreciation for them grows, even if they did cut off all of our doll’s hair when they were 8 years old.  

Celebrating a sibling’s birthday is a perfect time to let them know how much we love and appreciate them. We can comfort them on their birthdays with words of wisdom from the Lord about His love and His guidance.

Here are four verses to share with your siblings on their birthdays:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). 

"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11). 

“The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad” (Psalm 118:24).

“May the Lord crown your year with his bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance” (Psalm 65:11). 

Our Lord Jesus Christ celebrates the elderly and their wisdom. With age comes experience, knowledge, and a position to teach those younger than ourselves the lessons we have learned.

God also lets us know that even as we age, He will still be our strength and comfort. No matter our age, Jesus will be by our side. He loves all of His children.

Here are some verses you can share with your grandparents or other elders in your life:

“And I will still be carrying you when you are old. Your hair will turn gray, and I will still carry you. I made you, and I will carry you to safety” (Isaiah 46:4). 

"Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old” (Job 12:12). 

“Those who are older should speak, for wisdom comes with age” (Job 32:7). 

“Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is obtained by following a righteous path” (Proverbs 16:31).

Children are a reason to celebrate all by themselves, but it’s extra special when it’s their birthday.  

Children see birthdays from a different perspective than we may see them as adults. Parties, presents, and birthday cake! These simple elements of a birthday make for a happy celebration of children and grandchildren.

However, we must not forget how our Lord celebrates youth, not just on their birthday but every day. 

A child’s birthday is the perfect time to let them know of the love Jesus has for them. Before they were even born, His love for them began and will stay with them all through their life.

Here are some verses perfect for celebrating a child’s birthday:

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24). 

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you..." (Jeremiah 1:5).

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).

“Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers” (Proverbs 17:6). 

“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. Instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.  Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life” (Proverbs 4:10-13).

We often celebrate our immediate family’s birthdays, but we can’t forget about our friends too.

Friends play a very important role in our lives and we should be thankful for the sunshine they create.

God’s love extends to our friends just as much as it extends to our family members. During such a special day, we let them know His special words of love and encouragement from the Bible.

Here are some verses you can use to celebrate a friend’s birthday:

"He has made everything beautiful in its time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11). 

"May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed" (Psalm 20:4).

"The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:1). 

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will do this” (Psalm 37:4-5).
