The world is becoming increasingly dangerous, and Christians are not exempt from the fears that bombard us as we each walk our unique paths in life. However, when it comes to overcoming fear and conquering anxiety for those who follow Christ Jesus, there's only one word worth remembering: faith. Faith in Him who will never leave you nor forsake you. And why would you want anything else if He has given His Word to be your light through dark places (Isaiah 59:11)? It takes faith to stand against lies like, "God doesn't love me anymore" or "I'm going crazy." We must believe God's Word when He says His mighty love never fails and He does not "turn away from those who have a humble heart" (Psalm 34:18) .Fear is a deep-seated emotion that affects everyone. Fear comes from many sources: failure, rejection, loss of health, death, poverty, marriage/divorce, loneliness, or retirement, to name a few. No one wants to experience pain, but pain is a part of life. We realize how faithful God is during a painful time and how much stronger we are than we thought we were. No, it's not a sin to be afraid. Asking God for help or guidance is biblical. Jesus is our High Priest who sympathizes with us when we are troubled and gives us strength to overcome problems.

Lord, overwhelm Your child with Your love. Comfort me with Your peace. Remind me that the power of fear is destroyed in Your name. Deliver me from the enemy's lies and shower me with Your truth. Cause the Holy Spirit to comfort me from Your Word. Teach me to embrace the sweetness of Your Spirit in troubled times. In Jesus' name, amen.
