“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
The purpose of a battle cry is to embolden soldiers as they charge toward their enemy. The best battle cries bring courage to the soldier, and strike fear into their enemy. Today, the battle cry of many of us Christians have gone weak and faint — it doesn’t bring us courage nor does it intimidate our enemy, the devil. Ephesians tells us that our enemy is not other people, but the spiritual forces of evil. These evil rulers want us to disbelieve that they exist, but the truth is that they continually wage war against the church. If we ignore the fact that we have an enemy, we won’t respond with a battle cry to protect our family, our community, and our lives from very real spiritual attacks. We can fight this war with confidence by drawing near to God, and fleeing from darkness.
Do you believe the enemy is real? What can you do today to fight against the spiritual forces of evil?
