According to a recent study, the average vacationer spends nine hours of a one-week vacation browsing social media. In addition, most of these study participants admitted to missing out on vital holiday experiences because of time spent on their phones. With endless distractions readily available, we often have difficulty finding a solitary place to be alone with God.
Spending time in worship and prayer with our Church community is integral to our faith. However, they cannot replace the intimacy of one-on-one prayer with our heavenly Father. Like Jesus, we must find our solitary place for prayer and be there often. It may be a quiet room, a favorite chair, a walk in the woods, or even a garden like Gethsemane. Those places are where God gets our undivided attention.
Father, lead me to a place where you and I can talk alone. Amen.
