Scripture
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Devotional
Do you desperately need peace? We can read Scriptures and know they are true but still not feel the words on the pages displayed in our lives. Sometimes we’re tempted to shame ourselves, believing we don’t have enough faith or that God doesn’t hear us. So, where does this peace and joy come from? We can say the answer is prayer, but sometimes praying can seem exhausting, or we don’t know the words to say. This is where the Holy Spirit comes in. Romans 8:26 states, “We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” We need this Helper that God has given each of us because we cannot manifest God’s gifts of peace and joy ourselves. If you’re depressed, anxious, or just feeling completely defeated, spend some time in silence today calling on the Holy Spirit to intercede for you and bless you with God’s peace that surpasses understanding.
Prayer
Dear Holy Spirit, Jesus promised that You would be my helper when He left this earth. However, I often feel so alone. I need you to intercede for me to the Father. Bless me with the peace and joy you promise in Your Word. Increase my faith and help me trust you will answer. Reveal to me what I need to do next. Show me how to love others and intercede in prayer for them. Thank you for what you’re going to do in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
